Inspired by the Essence of Revelstoke:

Our website has been thoughtfully infused with the colours and elements inspired by the breathtaking beauty of Revelstoke’s local nature. From the vibrant hues of the mountains to the tranquil blues of the lakes, our website exudes a sense of individuality that mirrors the uniqueness of our community. 

Indigenous Foliage Elements

Each of our district sites will each feature a different foliage element indigenous to Revelstoke and with traditional importance to our Indigenous communities. On the homepage, you can click the foliage to learn further information on these important local plants.

Oregon Grape – Ktunaxa

Arrow Heights Elementary School has chosen to represent the Oregon Grape!
Known as st’x̌ałqʷ in Nsyilxcən (the language of the Sinixt and Okanagan). Known as nahuk in Ktunaxa (the language of the Ktunaxa), Oregon Grape can be found throughout the Revelstoke area. Although they are better suited to animals than humans, the berries are very tart and taste best after a frost or in preserves. The berries and roots have a variety of medicinal properties and can be used for kidney issues or blood purification. Most commonly, Oregon grape branches are used to create a bright yellow dye that can be applied to a wide range of natural materials.
